The Program

Teams race against the clock in their competition to construct spacecraft on time and on budget while balancing the need for results and keeping people engaged. To  succeed they must honestly assess performance, coach each other, and work together to align their goals and activities to achieve individual and team  accountabilities.  Enterprise is interactive, practical, and learner-centric. Incorporating multiple debriefs, the design encourages active experimentation on the part of  participants. Consequently, they own the results and the learning.

Designed around three stages, and three debriefs, the simulation gives participants an opportunity to stop and evaluate their behavior and performance. They learn how to take charge and accept accountability for their decisions, environment, and results. The simulation ends on a “high” not only because the team is successful, but  because they earned and own their success.

The Key Learnings

Enterprise focuses on the 6 C’s of Accountability:

  • Clarity: Clearly defining roles, goals & expectations
  • Competence: Determine our abilities and gaps of knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to do the job
  • Commitment: At an individual and team level, ensure there is engagement, clear explanations,  and clear and reasonable expectations
  • Collaboration: Vertical and horizontal alignment in how our team works
  • Course Correction: Use of the STOP tool (Step back, Think, Organize, Proceed) to assess our course and make adjustments
  • Critical Communication: Creating opportunities for clear, timely, & , if needed, tough communication

Practical Information

  • The ideal audience: First-line leaders up through senior-level management
  • Timeframe: 1.5-3 hours
  • For group sizes that range from 10 to 200 or more participants
